After years of fan demand with the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign, Zack Snyder’s director’s cut of Justice League has finally been released on HBO Max. The basic plot is almost identical to the theatrical cut co-directed by disgraced filmmaker Joss Whedon. In response to Superman’s (Henry Cavill) death, Batman (Ben Affleck) unites the Justice League against Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds).

Firstly, the film’s troubled production history must be addressed. Outside of studio politics, any creator deserves a shot to get their vision out there. Snyder falls into the category of being a music video director, who never creatively progressed from being a music video director. Superman: Dawn of Justice is a weaker film. The plot was more coherent in the Ultimate Edition. However, it was still cluttered with unnecessary scenes.

Moving on to the Snyder Cut, the drawn out pacing of the cut gave it the time to breathe and establish the plot. This is refreshing compared to the theatrical cut…
